Class 1 Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator Range Road Contracting & Consulting Inc.
Range Road Contracting & Consulting Inc. is seeking an experienced and dependable Class 1 Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team.
This is not a typical highway trucking position. We are looking for a versatile individual who is comfortable operating gravel trucks and pup trailers, water trucks, loaders, excavators, and other heavy equipment in support of earthworks, civil construction, and infrastructure projects throughout Southern Alberta.
The successful candidate will be responsible for hauling construction materials, transporting equipment, loading their own trucks using excavators or loaders, operating water trucks, and supporting site operations as required.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 gravel trucks and pup trailers.
- Haul aggregate, topsoil, clay, recycled materials, and other construction products to and from project sites.
- Operate water trucks for dust control and compaction support.
- Transport construction equipment using tag trailers and equipment trailers.
- Load trucks with excavators, wheel loaders, or other heavy equipment.
- Conduct daily pre-trip, post-trip, and circle-check inspections.
- Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and daily paperwork accurately.
- Secure equipment and loads in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Communicate effectively with project supervisors, dispatchers, and fellow crew members.
- Assist with site operations including excavation, grading, material handling, and earthworks activities when hauling is not required.
- Perform routine maintenance, greasing, fueling, cleaning, and minor repairs on trucks and equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies and provincial transportation regulations.
- Maintain a professional attitude when representing the company on project sites and with clients.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 Driver's License with a clean commercial driver's abstract.
- Experience operating gravel trucks and pup trailers.
- Experience hauling heavy equipment with tag trailers or lowbeds is considered an asset.
- Experience operating excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, dozers, or other heavy equipment.
- Water truck experience is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of load securement requirements and safe operating practices.
- Knowledge of earthworks, excavation, grading, and aggregate hauling operations.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform preventative maintenance, identify mechanical issues, and complete minor repairs on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and occasional out-of-town projects as required.
