Construction Surveyor

L. Chabot Enterprises Ltd. (CHABOT) is a 100% Métis-owned heavy civil construction company with over 55 years of experience delivering infrastructure across Manitoba. From aggregate production to large-scale earthworks and road construction, our work shapes the communities we live in.
We are currently seeking a Construction Surveyor to support our 2026 summer project season. This is a field-focused role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in accuracy, accountability, and getting the job done right.
The Role
You will be responsible for site layout, grade verification, and survey control to support earthworks, roadbuilding, and site development activities. Your work directly impacts productivity, quality, and cost control on site.
This is not a back-office role, you’ll be in the field with crews, operators, and supervisors to keep work moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction layout and staking (grades, offsets, alignments, structures)
- Establish and maintain site control points and benchmarks
- Conduct as-built surveys and quantity tracking
- Provide grade checks and real-time support to operators and supervisors
- Interpret drawings, plans, and digital models (PDF/CAD/GPS files)
- Work with GPS machine control systems and survey equipment (Total Station, RTK GPS)
- Maintain accurate field notes, survey records, and reporting
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to resolve layout challenges
- Support quality control and compliance with project specifications
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in construction surveying(civil/earthworks/roadbuilding preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Total Stations and GPS survey equipment
- Construction drawings and grading plans
- Machine control systems (Topcon, Trimble, or equivalent)
- Ability to work independently in field conditions
- Strong problem-solving mindset
- Physically capable of working outdoors in variable conditions
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Nice to Have:
- Survey/Geomatics diploma or related education
- Experience on heavy civil or infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with quantity tracking and production support

Work Details
- Seasonal position: May – October 2026 (weather dependent) with opportunity for training, advancement and full-time work
- Based in the Winnipeg Capital Region
- Daily travel to project sites required

Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
