THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Surrey-based manufacturer with over 100 employees and a reputation for producing high-quality food products supplied to major retailers and customers across North America.
As the business continues to grow and invest in its operations, they're looking to add a Senior Accountant to their collaborative finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this newly created position offers the opportunity to take ownership of month-end accounting, inventory, financial reporting and compliance while working closely with Operations, Purchasing, R&D and senior leadership to support the wider business.
Beyond traditional financial reporting, you'll gain exposure to production planning, demand forecasting, costing and new product launches—offering a level of operational involvement rarely found in a Senior Accountant position. Previous production planning experience isn't required; the business is looking for someone with strong analytical skills, commercial curiosity and a genuine desire to grow into an Accounting Manager over time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the month-end close process and prepare financial information for senior management review.
- Prepare monthly commission reports and statements.
- Coordinate GST, WCB and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Manage inventory reconciliations, cycle counts and variance analysis.
- Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with the external accounting firm.
- Oversee customer deductions and support the Accounts Receivable function.
- Partner closely with the Accounts Payable and Payroll teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage the Import to Re-Export (IREP) program.
- Assist with inventory planning, costing exercises and new product launches alongside Operations, Purchasing and R&D.
- Support production planning by analysing customer demand, inventory levels and production requirements.
- Contribute to process improvements and support the implementation of a future ERP system.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing or product-based environment.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, month-end close and financial reporting.
- Experience with inventory accounting, reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Exposure to costing or operational finance is considered an asset.
- Manufacturing experience is preferred
- CPA designation or active enrolment in the CPA program is considered an asset but is not required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and solve problems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Operations and other business functions.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a genuine willingness to learn, contribute and take on new challenges.
