Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Zamboni Operator and General Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our ice rink facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance skills, along with leadership qualities to oversee equipment and support team operations. This role involves operating Zamboni, performing routine repairs, troubleshooting, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for staff and guests. Prior supervisory experience and familiarity with ice maintenance processes are highly valued to support ongoing facility excellence.
Description
The Successful candidate will perform duties associated with the operation including ice resurfacing, refrigeration plant management, cleaning of the facility and general repairs.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED, Class "B" refrigeration certificate and asset, certified Ice Technician certificate and asset. Additional training an asset (scissor lift, confined space, electrical safety, etc.) 2 years relevant experience and a valid Class "G" drivers license. Knowledge and understanding of safety (OSHA and WHIMIS)
Requires a criminal background check and clearance with respect to persons working with an / or association with youth and vulnerable persons.
Work Conditions
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and shifts(day, evening and weekend shifts) Physically fit and able to work from heights, lift heavy items(approx. 40lbs) and walk and be on your feet for extended periods of time, able to work alone or with minimal supervision.
Job Type - Seasonal Full Time
Salary - $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Schedule - 8-10 hour shifts
Day Shift approx. 6am - 4pm
Night Shift approx. 4pm - 2am

Responsibilities
- Operate Zamboni to maintain optimal ice surface quality, ensuring safety and smoothness for skating activities.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on Zamboni equipment and other facility machinery.
- Perform general maintenance tasks including cleaning, minor electrical repairs, and mechanical adjustments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and repairs
- Lead small teams or supervise maintenance staff during shift operations to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Support facilities maintenance including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and structural repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and facility policies at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing facility-related concerns promptly and professionally.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance, manufacturing environments, or similar roles with mechanical knowledge.
- Supervising experience is preferred to oversee maintenance teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and team coordination.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to supervise staff and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Prior experience operating Zamboni Ice Resurfacer machines or similar equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance issues.
