Overview
The Pederson Group has been retained by our client to conduct a search for a Project Manager working in Underground & Civil Construction to join their team in Winnipeg, MB!
Reporting to the Director of Contracting, the Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing and closing underground and/or civil construction projects, including those in remote and challenging locations, while ensuring safety, quality, budget, schedule and client expectations are met.
Duties
- Plan, execute and deliver underground and/or civil construction projects, including remote location work, from initiation through closeout.
- Develop and implement project methodologies, execution plans and work strategies to optimize performance and outcomes.
- Develop, manage and control project budgets, schedules and forecasts.
- Lead project teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality project execution.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor costs, manage change orders and provide accurate cost control reporting.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports, including financial performance, schedule updates and risk assessments.
- Assist with reviewing, negotiating and developing contracts, ensuring alignment with project and company objectives.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies, particularly for remote and logistically complex sites.
- Support business development, estimating and pre-construction activities as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Contracting.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing underground and/or civil construction projects, including remote or camp-based environments.
- Proven experience developing project methodologies and execution strategies.
- Strong background in budgeting, scheduling, cost control and project reporting.
- Experience reviewing and supporting development of construction contracts.
- Excellent leadership, communication and client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced and remote environments.
