Canadian Executive Search Group is recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturer seeking an experienced
Automation Technician to join their growing maintenance team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new operation supporting highly automated manufacturing equipment. You'll play a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated production systems while working alongside maintenance, engineering, and production teams to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency.

- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and automated control systems.
- Modify and maintain PLC/HMI programs, I/O systems, and electrical control panels.
- Diagnose and calibrate instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, level, pH, and conductivity devices.
- Maintain industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, and Modbus.
- Support automated production equipment, conveyors, robotics, vision inspection systems, packaging equipment, and process control systems.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
- Analyze equipment failures and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with equipment commissioning, process improvements, and new production line start-ups.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation using CMMS.
- Work safely while following Lockout/Tagout procedures and all workplace health and safety standards.
- Diploma or Certificate in Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Instrumentation & Control Technician (447A) certification.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial automation experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial instrumentation.
- Experience with Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7, Omron Sysmac, or similar automation platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial communication networks.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Manufacturing facility with exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and dust.
- Physically active role involving standing, walking, lifting, climbing, and occasional confined space work.
- Overtime and on-call support may be required based on operational needs.
