Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. This position will begin on a part-time basis, supporting a range of accounting functions including processing invoices, maintaining financial records, handling payroll, and assisting with day-to-day accounting operations. You will start by supporting core tasks such as data entry and accounts payable/receivable, with the opportunity to grow your responsibilities as you gain experience in the role. This position offers strong opportunities for professional development within the finance department and is well suited to someone looking to build a solid foundation in accounting. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the Department Head, gaining valuable mentorship and insight from someone with extensive industry experience, all within a collaborative team environment.
Duties
- Accurately enter financial data into accounting software and spreadsheets
- Maintain organized records of all financial transactions to ensure compliance and accessibility
- Assist with processing payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees
- Assist in the processing and management of invoices, payments and collections
- Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll tax filings and compliance
- Ensure all financial documents are filed and stored in an organized and accessible manner
- Support auditing an compliance tasks as necessary to ensure proper record keeping
- Provide general assistance with other accounting tasks as necessary to ensure proper record keeping
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent designation preferred) is preferred
- Minimum of a 2 year college diploma in accounting or related field is required
- At least one year of related accounting experience is required
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
- Strong proficiency with MS Office applications is a must, especially excel
- Proficient in data entry with excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
