Job Overview
Position: Assistant Manager / Experienced Support Worker
Full-time position (40 hours / week) for experienced support worker / caregiver with managerial skills, on a great team providing 24/7 care for a 37-year-old man with Down’s Syndrome, Epilepsy and global developmental delay.
Location: King Edward and Fraser St., Vancouver - just a few blocks away from the #25 and #8 bus
Shifts worked by the 24/7 team:
- Days (07:00-15:00)
- Evenings (15:00-23:00)
- Awake overnights (23:00-07:00)
The supported individual
- lives in his own suite in the family home and enjoys being physically active and is out in the community almost every day; visiting friends, attending music therapy, swimming, participating in community center activities, going for walks in the neighborhood, book reading, playing on his swing.
- Is dependent in all ADL
The supported individual is cared for by a trained team whose responsibilities include:
- personal care,
- individualized communication system,
- medication administration,
- seizure management,
- Bipap therapy,
- dysphagia care,
- mobility support
The successful candidate will:
- Be an experienced support worker, caregiver or healthcare worker
- Be a willing learner and effective communicator
- Hold skills / experience in Management
- Assist in providing direct 1:1 client support as needed
- Work on-site supporting, training / teaching and providing oversight & evaluations to staff
- Perform administrative duties as needed (ie: scheduling, document prep etc.)
- Live within 40 minutes of workplace location
- Receive Client-specific training for the position
- Musical ability is an asset
- Swimming / basketball assets
- Healthcare background is an asset
Compensation:
Starting wage : $30.28/hour (range negotiable depending on education and experience)
