About Us
Silvercreek Animal Hospital is a privately owned solo veterinary practice that has proudly served Guelph since 1987. Dr. Beckstead is the 2nd owner of the hospital celebrating her 30th year this June. We are a high touch low volume veterinary practice that prides itself in getting to know our clients and their pets by scheduling 30 minute appointments and offering same day elective and emergency appointments/surgeries (if needed). We are a full service small a animal hospital providing medical and surgical services (including dentistry), house calls, boarding and grooming.
Job Description
We are looking for a mature, professional individual with a passion for the human animal bond, to greet and care for clients and patients with kindness and compassion in a dual role as a Receptionist and as an Animal Care Assistant. This position is ideal for someone who excels at multitasking, loves interacting with people, and has a deep passion for working with animals.
Key Responsibilities
Reception & Front Desk Duties:
- Serve as the welcoming face of the hospital, greeting clients and patients as they arrive.
- Manage phone systems, schedule appointments, and respond to client inquiries.
- Enter the doctors notes into the medical records, handle billing/payments, and maintain organization/cleanliness throughout the clinic.
Animal Care & Medical Assistance:
- Safely and compassionately assist the veterinarian with patient handling during appointments and examinations.
- Maintain efficient appointment flow by preparing the appointment room for patients.
- Help monitor animals in our care, ensuring their comfort, cleanliness, and overall well-being.
- Assist DVM and RVT as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical or veterinary environment is considered a strong asset, though not mandatory for the right candidate.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Comfort handling cats and dogs of various sizes and temperaments is required
- Experience with typing/computers is necessary (knowledge of Cornerstone software is an asset)
