Summary
The Line Leader provides team leadership to the production team to achieve prescribed goals and expectations, setting the standards for operators to follow. In addition, he/she performs production functions as required. Adheres to the Employee Policy Manual.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide team leadership in an efficient manner that will meet and exceed customer requirements.
- Ensure that products are produced to quality standards as described in the quality and GMP procedures.
- Ensure that employees on the line adhere with all company rules and safe practices as described in the Employee Policy Manual and procedures.
- Organize and instruct team members on assigned lines.
- Provide task training to team members as required ensuring that it is documented following the company procedures.
- Confirm correct packaging materials are at the line for start-up, and advise Material Handlers as required.
- Ensure all machinery is running properly and advice Maintenance immediately when problems arise.
- Complete Start-Up and Shut-Down sheets, First-off sheets (required for brand code changes) and ensure all tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
- Record production data in Nulogy, scanning finished pallets, recording # of team members on the line and recording all material movement/consumption.
- Keep the work area neat and clean, and ensure on-line scrap is recorded.
- Assist in managing scrap levels by working following the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage and log inventory at the end of the job for all materials at the line, and count and tag P-class.
- Recommend improvements to operations; actively participate in team meetings and/or other committees as available.
- Perform tasks following the SOPs.
- Provide feedback for performance evaluations on a prescribed basis.
- Correct performance issues identified and actively support a positive team environment. Be supportive and flexible to changing processes.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.
- Follow the Employee Policy Manual and all applicable regulations as outlined by the company and counsel staff that do not follow the regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Quality Management
- Adhere to GMPs; ensure that Line Operators also understand GMPs.
- Ensure production meets product specifications and quality standards
- Complete all tasks in a quality manner as outlined in the company’s mission statement.
- Report quality issue(s) to direct supervisor and/or Quality Assurance Manager immediately.
- Inspect product according to the quality checklist and instructions provided in the on-line binder.
- Provide input to resolve quality issues.
Risk Management
- Follow provincial and company health and safety regulations & Plant Safe Practices.
- Qualify and maintain safety certifications if required.
- Assist in workplace inspections when requested.
- Perform work in a safe manner at all times; identify safety issues to Production Manager and stop production when there is a critical safety concern.
Qualifications (Required education/experience/skills/abilities)
- High school diploma and/two or more years related work experience. Leadership experience is an asset.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and listening are required and reading comprehension skills.
- Basic computer knowledge in order to daily perform production logs; knowledge of Nulogy program not necessarily a requirement.
- Verify, organize and manage records electronically.
- Ability to possess interpersonal communication skills; strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner. Have basic mathematical knowledge.
- There is no exposure to outside weather conditions. The nature of physical effort leading to muscle strain while performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bending, lifting maximum weight of 40lbs, pulling, noise, static shocks and exposure to some form of toxic chemicals.

Pay: $21.00-$26.00 per hour
