A specialized boutique law firm located in downtown Toronto is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will provide direct support to a focused and busy litigation practice, working alongside a small team of lawyers in a professional and collegial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, prepare, and proofread legal correspondence, pleadings, motions, and court documents
- Manage and organize litigation files from opening through to resolution
- Coordinate court filings, service of documents, and monitor critical deadlines
- Schedule and coordinate proceedings including examinations for discovery, mediations, and hearings
- Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain organized physical and electronic filing systems
- Prepare and circulate case summaries, chronologies, and other file materials as required
- Provide general administrative support to the litigation team
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a litigation environment
- Solid knowledge of Ontario court procedures and the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Proficiency with legal software such as PCLaw, Clio, or similar practice management tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet firm deadlines
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Legal Assistant diploma or Law Clerk diploma is considered an asset
Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
