EVK Consulting is happy to annouce that we are offering another unique long-term contractor-style opportunity for a Junior Engineer who is interested not only in technical work, but in learning how to run an engineering business from the inside out.
This role is ideal for a junior applicant who ultimately wants to grow into an eventual senior position at a structural/ building science engineering firm, and is looking for hands-on mentorship while actively participating in day-to-day operations.
This is a self-employed / contract position, not a traditional employment role.
The Opportunity:
You will work directly with the principal and senior team members of EVK Consulting and be mentored in technical engineering practice, as well as the operational, administrative, and strategic aspects of running an engineering business.
Mentorship will extend beyond technical design and include project management, client relations, proposal development, pricing, risk management, and long-term business growth.

- Wants to learn the day-to-day of operating a consulting practice

Responsibilities:
-Perform structural and building science engineering design, investigations, construction review, and contract administration
-Prepare proposals, investigation, designs, reports, drawings, specifications, field reviews and progress payment certifications
-Act as a point of contact for contractors and other consultants on assigned projects
-Participate in project planning, scheduling, and coordination
-Contribute to business operations including proposal preparation, fee development, and workflow management
Qualifications:
- Min. 3 years of relevant experience in structural and/or building science engineering
-Strong working knowledge of structural design principles and construction practices
-Proficiency in CAD and Bluebeam
-Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, or similar) is an asset
-Must have a valid and full G driver's license in Ontario with own vehicle
-Willingness to travel within the GTA and Southern Ontario, and potential short overnight stays away is a must
-E.I.T. designation not required but the candidate should be eligible for and/or interested in obtaining licensure
-Comfortable working independently with guidance and mentorship

Compensation structure and fees will be discussed with suitable candidates and aligned with experience, responsibilities, and long-term growth potential.
