Enoch Civil Construction is seeking an experienced and motivated Finish Operator to join our growing team. We are a full-service heavy civil construction company providing quality services throughout Alberta. We take pride in delivering exceptional results while maintaining our commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction. We are looking for a skilled operator who takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, and can consistently achieve precise grades and finishes while working safely and efficiently in a team environment.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Site Supervisor and Operations Team, the Finish Operator will be responsible for operating graders and other heavy equipment to achieve final grade specifications on civil construction and earthworks projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent equipment operating skills, a strong understanding of grading requirements, and the ability to work safely in dynamic construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Excavator, Dozer and other heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to company policies, site requirements, and applicable legislation.
- Finish gravel, subgrade, and other surfaces within sub-centimeter tolerances.
- Cut grade against concrete, asphalt, grade stakes, and other site structures.
- Read and interpret plans, drawings, elevations, and grade information.
- Work effectively with survey crews, grade checkers, and ground personnel.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete all required paperwork.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, maintenance checks, cleaning, lubrication, and refueling.
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies, maintenance requirements, or repair needs.
- Assist with routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Maintain assigned equipment in a clean and professional condition.
- Participate in daily hazard assessments, safety meetings, and site safety initiatives.
- Adapt to changing project conditions, schedules, policies, and procedures.
- Assist crew members with additional site activities as required.
- Perform all duties while maintaining a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Finish Operator in civil construction, earthworks, or oilfield construction.
- Extensive experience operating graders and other heavy equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve fine grades and work within tight tolerances.
- Strong understanding of grades, elevations, and construction drawings.
- Experience working around underground utilities and ground personnel.
- GPS machine control and survey equipment experience considered an asset.
- Experience operating additional construction equipment is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Good physical condition and stamina.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and site conditions.
- Ability to safely work on uneven terrain and active construction sites.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with reliable transportation.
- Must provide a current Driver's Abstract and Criminal Record Check upon request.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test, including THC.
Required Safety Certifications
Applicants must possess current certifications for:
- Intermediate First Aid
- H2S Alive
- Ground Disturbance Level II - In class Version
- CSTS20 - Fundamentals (Free on ACSA)
- WHMIS2015 (Free on ACSA)

Schedule: Up to 12 hours per day 7 Days a week (Construction Schedule)
Pay: dependent on experience / Hourly rate available
Expected hours: No more than 84 per week
