Position Summary
The Shipping and Glass Plant Foreperson will lead daily plant manufacturing and shipping operations with a steadfast commitment to efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for maintaining high-quality standards and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment. The successful candidate will strategically allocate labor to meet sales forecasts, ensure on-time schedule execution, and collaborate closely with the Plant Manager and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Logistics
· Execute Schedules: Monitor and support Team Leaders to consistently meet daily shipping and production commitments.
· Logistics Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for the Sales team, customers, and external freight carriers regarding delivery logistics.
· Customer Solutions: Partner with Sales to establish accurate delivery timelines and proactively resolve unplanned events affecting customer needs.
· Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to optimize customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety.
· Process Optimization: Collaborate with plant management and industrial engineers to streamline production processes and remove operational bottlenecks.
· Resource Management: Equipt the team with necessary tools, materials, and organized workspaces to ensure operational success.
· Facility Upgrades: Plan and implement strategic modifications to machinery, production systems, and workflow methods.
· Performance Reporting: Track, analyze, and report weekly on departmental KPIs, including efficiency, quality, safety, and training metrics.
Training & Employee Development
- Performance Management: Evaluate employee performance regularly and hold team members accountable to production targets.
- Structured Training: Ensure new hires and trainees are paired with qualified trainers, clearly outlining all safety, quality, and output expectations.
- Cross-Training: Maintain an adaptable workforce by implementing a robust cross-training matrix with zero coverage gaps.
- Mentorship & Coaching: Identify high-potential employees, mentor team members seeking advancement, and actively develop future leadership talent.
- Culture Champion: Promote an environment of open communication, strong teamwork, and mutual accountability.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience directly leading a team of 15 or more employees in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to quickly learn, master, and apply technical knowledge specific to glass plant operations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface professionally with both internal teams and external clients.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of using root-cause analysis to solve complex operational issues.
- Organization: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with a goal-oriented, resourceful mindset.
- Digital Literacy: Strong computer proficiency and aptitude for learning specialized inventory or production software.
- Reliability: Demonstrated history of excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Assets: Prior experience in shipping logistics or customer service roles is considered a strong asset. [1]
Pay: $80,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
