Store Manager – Rock on Water
Location: Downtown St. John's, NL
Do you take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, and enjoy working with people and leading a team? Rock on Water is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and motivated Store Manager to lead our downtown St. John's souvenir and gift shop.
Rock on Water is a locally owned shop specializing in Newfoundland souvenirs, locally made crafts, gifts, home décor, apparel, and unique treasures that celebrate our province. We welcome visitors from around the world as well as local customers looking for something special.
About the Role
As Store Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the store, ensuring an outstanding shopping experience for every customer while leading and developing a positive, high-performing team.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy retail environment, and takes ownership of store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of retail associates.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff.
- Manage daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock replenishment.
- Merchandise products to maximize sales and maintain attractive displays.
- Process cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
- Monitor sales performance and work toward achieving store goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns professionally.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
Requirements
- Previous retail management or supervisory experience is required for this role.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications.
- Reliable, dependable, and self-motivated.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Assets
- Experience in gift, souvenir, specialty retail, or tourism.
- Experience using Square Retail and/or Shopify.
- Knowledge of Newfoundland products, local artisans, or the tourism industry.
- Experience with inventory management and merchandising.
