Position summary:
The Lead Receptionist position is a full time Monday to Friday in-office position involving administrative support in a thriving and fast pace Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery practice (8 physicians). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering phones, scheduling appointments, referral management, preparing and distributing patient reports, maintaining electronic medical record, front desk reception work and assisting physicians with patient care. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced cooperative team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and check-in patients at the front desk
- Schedule appointments and manage the office calendar
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries
- Collect patient information and update medical records
- Verify Alberta Healthcare insurance coverage
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Assist with referral management
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area
- Reprocessing of medical instruments
- Working with the Site Manager to arrange reception/room schedule for clinic
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years experience as Receptionist at a Medical Office
- Previous Medical Office Assistant experience preferred.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. * due to the nature of our patients (Ear, nose, throat), clear speech and understanding of English is important.
- Speaking additional languages is helpful
- Must possess good computer skills. Knowledge of Telus EMR system (CHR) and previous Connect Care experience ideal.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Strong interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Demonstration of HIPA (Health Information Protection Act) completion/compliance
Salary and Benefits: Commensurate to qualifications and experience; benefit plan to commence after mandatory probationary period.
