SMS Equipment is seeking an organized and customer-focused Component Coordinator to play a critical role in supporting the planning, coordination and administration of components and parts activities within the branch. This position works closely with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure components and parts are available when needed, workflows are optimized, and customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
Work Location: Elkford, BC.
Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 per annum.
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site, working 5 days per week from the office.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and support daily component and parts operations to ensure efficient workflow and strong customer service.
- Monitor work in progress (WIP), identify bottlenecks, and support continuous workflow improvements.
- Review job priorities and communicate status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare accurate quotations and assist with departmental forecasting activities.
- Support inventory management initiatives, including reducing write-offs and adjustments.
- Work closely with customers to understand upcoming maintenance and repair schedules and forecast parts and component requirements.
- Collaborate with remanufacturing facilities, branch teams, and OEM distribution centers to ensure timely availability of parts and components.
- Coordinate with shop personnel, superintendents, and supervisors to support effective work planning and scheduling.
- Assist in the resolution of warranty-related concerns and parts/service order corrections.
- Develop and maintain customer-specific reporting and planning schedules.
- Build strong customer relationships through regular communication, planning meetings, and issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency.
- Support special projects and provide coverage for the Components Planner when required.
What You Bring
The successful candidate will have 2+ years of related administrative experience supporting service and parts transactions. Additional qualifications include:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., eXtend, SAP).
- Excellent customer service, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively while meeting deadlines.
