IS2 Workforce Solutions is currently recruiting a Steel Band Saw Operator on behalf of a long-standing steel distribution and processing company in the London area. This family-owned business has provided dependable service to its customers for nearly 50 years and is looking to add a reliable, hardworking team member who is interested in building a long-term career.
This is a full-time, temp-to-permanent opportunity with excellent benefits, on-the-job training, and room to grow within a stable organization.
Schedule: Monday to Friday; 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Two 15-minute breaks
Wage: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
- Up to $26.00 per hour for candidates with strong relevant experience
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting directly to the Shop Supervisor and Branch Manager, you will:
- Operate band saws to perform custom steel cutting, including mitre cuts and multiple-cut orders
- Maintain customer-specified cutting tolerances and quality standards
- Prepare, skid, band, and package steel products for shipment
- Load, unload, move, and organize steel materials safely throughout the facility
- Use measuring tools including tape measures, micrometers, and verniers
- Assist with receiving and inventory handling duties
- Operate material handling equipment and overhead cranes (training available)
- Complete paperwork related to customer orders, cutting instructions, and product specifications
- Assist customers with account and cash sales as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
What We're Looking For
- Previous industrial, manufacturing or steel industry experience preferred
- Experience operating saws is preferred
- Strong attendance record and dependable work ethic
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in a physically demanding environment
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to read measurements accurately and work with precision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Assets
- Forklift experience
- Overhead crane experience
- Experience working with steel, metal, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial materials
- Experience using hand-held torches and measuring instruments
Don't have crane or forklift certification? No problem. The company provides internal training for the right candidate.
