Description:
A newly built garage with 6 service bays, air conditioning, and bright, spacious work areas, including a centralized oil supply system, a high-pressure washer, and overhead air and exhaust extraction systems. A safe working environment with overhead cranes covering 4 of the 6 bays.

General responsibilities and goals:
The mechanical shop provides maintenance for a variety of equipment (small engines, light trucks, medium and heavy-duty trucks, heavy machinery, and specialized equipment). Reporting to the Chief of Operations – Vehicles and Equipment, the incumbent of the position provides supervision for the activities of his/her unit. This person directs and oversees the work of the team under their responsibility, assigns and prioritizes tasks based on the schedule and ad hoc requests, and supervises their completion. They ensure compliance with quality criteria, standards, and requirements.
The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:
- Consulting, using and tracking work requests;
- Assigning the work to the members of his/her team in keeping with the collective agreement, municipal
regulations, and occupational health and safety standards;
- Ensuring that the preventive maintenance schedule is followed;
- Prioritizing urgent jobs;
- Entering the required information into the management software that is in effect in the department;
- Overseeing the work in the mechanical workshop to identify problems, set priorities and order the necessary mechanical parts;
- Raising any problems in the context of his/her work and suggesting solutions;
- Complying with the terms of Act 430 during interventions;
- Validating the compliance and quality of interventions;
- Analyzing the intervention conditions and applying the required health and safety measures;
- Being involved in the budget preparation and tracking for his/her work unit and justifying the expenditures made;
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality, evaluating the performance and development needs of the staff in his/her unit and making appropriate recommendations;
- Help assess the needs related to the vehicle fleet in order to support operations;
- Performing any other related duties.
Job requirements:
- Have a technical college diploma;
- A total of 3 to 5 years of related experience or any other combination of education and experience considered equivalent;
- Have a good understanding of automotive and heavy-duty vehicles mechanics;
- Have a good command of French and English to hold a conversation, participate in a work meeting, or give simple instructions.
- Ability to motivate and coach a team;
- Ability to analyze and solve problems;
- Computer knowledge to be able to prepare reports and written communications;
- Experience in a unionized environment will be considered an asset.
Schedule:
38 hours per week
Monday to Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
