Requirement – Valcom’s client (Department of National Defense (DND)) requires the services of an Intermediate level Transport Dispatcher to assist in managing and coordinating a vehicle fleet.
Background - DND is responsible for a wide range of missions and tasks in response to a variety of threats. The environment is often complex, dynamic, and involved with both deployed and domestic operations. A key contributor to the successful conduct of this group’s assigned missions and tasks is the ability to manage and control vehicle fleets.
Scope of Work - The work requires an Intermediate level Transport Dispatcher to assist in managing and coordinating a vehicle fleet. Training will be provided upon hire.
Tasks - The Transport Dispatcher will perform the following tasks:
(a) Select, assign, and dispatch suitable vehicle(s) in time to meet daily vehicle demands;
(b) Liaise monthly with section transport representatives updating vehicle recurring trip tickets;
(c) Maintain dispatch records, files, vehicle and personnel dispositions;
(d) Inform the Technical Authorities (TA) immediately when there are personnel and/or equipment deficiencies;
(e) Inform the TA when a DND vehicle is reported unserviceable by a driver and take replacement action when/as directed;
(f) Liaise with maintenance personnel to get unserviceable vehicles repaired and to maintain the current status of vehicles being repaired;
(g) Regularly visually inspect pool vehicles especially before and after each usage;
(h) Report damages and defects of pool vehicles to maintenance personnel and Mobile Support Equipment (MSE) safety personnel.
(i) Ensure that personnel utilizing vehicles do the daily inspections, fill in the appropriate documents, and return the vehicles clean, fueled up and ready for the next user;
(j) Maintain the various databases by entering daily activity reports in Fleet Management System (FMS), using trip tickets and defect slips to enable the section supervisor to prepare accurate statistical reports given to the Chain of Command (CoC);
(k) Deliver/Pick-up vehicles within the National Capital Region (NCR) upon authorization by the Technical Authority.
Language of Work - The proposed resource must be able to read, communicate orally and in writing, in English.
Location of Work - The Contractors’ work location will be at a DND facility within the National Capital Region (NCR) but in an area where there is no public transit available. There is parking available on-site. Specifically, work will be conducted at the Dwyer Hill Training Centre at 8355 Franktown Rd, Richmond, ON close to Carleton Place.
