Position Summary
APS College is seeking an experienced and highly organized Administration and Human Resources Manager to oversee administrative operations, human resources functions, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of private career college operations in Alberta and demonstrated experience working with regulatory requirements, policies, and standards established by the Private Career Colleges & Compliance Branch (PCCCB).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day administrative operations of the college.
- Ensure institutional compliance with Alberta Private Career Colleges Act and PCCCB requirements.
- Maintain and update institutional policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate reporting requirements, audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions.
- Oversee student records, admissions processes, and administrative systems.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in accordance with Alberta employment legislation.
- Support management in strategic planning and operational improvement initiatives.
- Monitor staff training and professional development activities.
- Liaise with government agencies, regulatory authorities, industry partners, and stakeholders.
- Assist in maintaining quality assurance standards and continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in administration and HR management.
- Previous experience working in a Private Career College or post-secondary education environment is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Alberta Private Career Colleges regulations and PCCCB compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of Alberta Employment Standards and HR best practices.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet regulatory deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and educational management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing regulatory reports, annual returns, compliance documentation, and policy manuals.
- Experience with student information systems and quality assurance processes.
- Human Resources designation (CPHR) or equivalent would be considered an asset.
