Qualifications
This position requires the completion of a diploma in Community Support Worker, Child and Family Services, Youth Care, or other related education, and/or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar field. If applicable, this position requires a minimum of 2 years continuous sobriety.
Duties & Responsibilities
A. ADMINISTRATION DUTIES
a) Accurate and secure file management.
b) Documentation of medication administration.
c) Accurate and timely completion of support notes.
d) Accurate and timely completion of incident reports.
e) Timely completion of client and children attendance form.
B. CLIENT RELATIONS
a) Positive interaction with clients and their children to ensure their needs are met (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and cultural).
b) Provide support and modeling for mothers and their children with multiple tasks; bathing, feeding, changing, swaddling, etc.
c) Conduct and provide support for meal preparation and chore completion.
d) Promote and support the tidying up of common areas by modeling clients and children to clean up after themselves. Weekday CSWs are responsible for cleaning up after clients leave for programming to ensure they come home to a clean home.
e) Provide support for infant and childcare when required.
f) Support the development of routine, especially as it pertains to bedtime, supporting the daily winddown, cleanup, bathing, bedtime reading and homework.
g) Ensure that families are prepared for the next day with lunches being made (supported by staff), diaper bags packed, and all homework completed.
h) Assist in the move in of all clients into the home and making them feel welcome and appreciated. This includes inspecting all items brought into the program and removal of contraband as well as supporting the unpacking and settling in their room.
i) Provide clients with mental and emotional support as required.
j) Motivate clients to pursue their recovery program as they see it.
k) Meet clients where they are and provide an open-minded and trusted ear for them to feel safe when they ask for help.
l) Weekday CSWs may provide outreach support for clients, including assistance completing paperwork and scheduling appointments.
m) Weekday CSWs may provide transportation of clients to and from daily programming and childcare, legal, health and wellness related appointments, when transportation is not available.
C. SUPERVISION
a) Supervise and model positive parenting behaviors to ensure that children remain in the safe care of their mothers and that they are not at risk of harm. Ensure accurate documentation of behaviors in fYi.
b) Supervise the self-administration of medications for clients and their children.
c) Monitor clients to ensure that they are following the rules as laid out in the conditions of residency.
d) Promote a positive attitude and healthy living environment for all residents.
e) Contact the client Case Worker or management when there exists the potential of harm to either children or clients.
f) Ensure the completion and filing of incident reports for submission to the Family Services Worker and management.
D. HEALTH AND SAFETY
a) Ensure the health and safety of all clients, staff, volunteers, and others visiting the home.
b) Monitor clients to ensure they are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
c) Complete drug testing for clients when required.
d) Conduct daily room checks and weekly room searches, to ensure tidiness and the removal of contraband.
e) Ensure the home remains clean and tidy, this includes the CSW office, emptying the dishwasher and cleaning and tidying up, while the families are in programming or asleep.
f) Complete the sanitization of client rooms after discharge from the program.
g) Ensure clients adhere to program policies and procedures related to Health and Safety.
h) Ensure that the organization and all staff are aware of and adhere to current and relevant legislation (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety).
E. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
a) Other duties as required.
Full-time is a 4 on 4 off rotation 2pm-10pm
Part Time is 10-25 hours a week
Casual is a minimum of 1 shift a weekend
This position is for evenings, weekends and night shifts with the odd weekend daytime shift.
A $2.00 wage differential is in place between 5pm and 11pm
A $3.00 wage differential is in place between 11pm-7am

Pay: $19.50-$21.50 per hour
