About the Opportunity
Our company is seeking a Tool and Die Maker that will be responsible for building equipment / tools, repair tools, and support changeovers and calibrations. The Tool Maker may work in the tool room, metrology or support builds and repairs on the production floor. The Tool Maker will work with Tool Engineering to review designs and layouts and may provide feedback if required. The Tool Maker will utilize various equipment including milling machines, lathes, saws, drill press, shearing machine, and the heat-treat areas. Various hand tools are also used while performing bench work and an overhead crane is used for heavier parts and supplies. The Tool Maker will also support gauge and measuring instrument maintenance, data management and analysis.
Required Education/license:
Tool Maker or Mould Maker trade certification - you must attach your certification with your application to be considererd
Wage: $60.27/ hour
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with a wide array of precision measuring tools and devices

Demonstrated capability on all standard Tool Room Equipment (Mills, Lathes, Grinders, etc.)

CNC capability preferably with Fanuc Controls

Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints

Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal, time management, project management, problem solving, organizational, administrative, and record keeping skills

Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, ISO 17025, ITAR regulations, and Canadian Controlled Goods regulations
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite including strong MS Excel skills

Experience with digital metrology tools such as CMM's, laser trackers, and laser scanners

Practice excellent general housekeeping, including but not limited to his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches, storage areas to ensure a safe work environment

Perform daily machine checks per preventative maintenance program and safety procedures

Shift work (all three shifts)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Computer experience including:

Engineering software such as Teamcenter (life cycle management), NX (CAD), Solid Edge (CAD)

Metrology software such as Polyworks, PC-DMIS
-
Asset management databases such as Maximo, Tip QA, and ETQ
-
Experience with metrology and gauge building
Benefits
- Base hourly starting rate is $60.27.

In addition to your rate, all bargaining unit employees are also entitled to cost of living allowance per hour and an additional $0.40 per hour for participation in the Company’s structured improvement program.

GDLS-C provides all required equipment to perform work.

Quarterly performance bonus.

Shift premium is offered at 5% for afternoon and 10% for midnight shifts

- Bargaining unit employees are enrolled in a defined contribution pension plan. There is a required 4% contribution with a 4% company match and up to an additional 2% voluntary contribution which provides another 4% match from the company.
