Dental Receptionist | Edmonton, Alberta
Full-Time | Monday–Thursday
Our team is looking for an experienced dental receptionist to join us.
We are a relationship-based dental practice. We believe good dentistry depends on trust, clear communication, and people who take care of one another. Reception is part of patient care. You will often be the first person a patient speaks with and the last person they see before leaving.
Who we're looking for
You like people and take an interest in them.
You communicate with warmth and clarity. You can help an anxious or frustrated patient without becoming defensive. You are comfortable discussing fees and insurance. You understand that insurance helps patients pay for care, but it does not determine what care is appropriate.
You pay attention to what is happening around you. You can prioritize competing needs and help a coworker without taking over their role.
Good judgment matters here.
The work
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and answering phones
- Scheduling appointments with an understanding of clinical time and practice flow
- Managing confirmations and schedule changes
- Helping maintain a healthy hygiene schedule
- Processing payments and maintaining patient accounts
- Communicating with insurance companies
- Helping patients understand their benefits and financial responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate patient information
- Communicating with the clinical team
- Following through on commitments
- Helping the team when circumstances require it
A dental schedule is more than a collection of open spaces. You will learn how our clinical day is designed and help protect the time our patients and clinicians need.
Dental reception experience is strongly preferred. Experience with scheduling, insurance, treatment coordination, accounts receivable, and dental practice-management software is valuable.
We are looking for someone with good judgment, emotional maturity, and a willingness to learn.
Compensation & Schedule
This position is paid above the local market rate, based on experience and responsibility. Ignore the generic range created by Indeed.
Benefits include dental care coverage, less lab costs, and a generous Health Spending Account toward eligible health expenses.
We work Monday through Thursday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Fridays and weekends are yours.
We invest in continuing education and the tools our team needs to do good work.
We expect a high standard from our team. We also believe the practice has a responsibility to take good care of the people who work here.
You may fit well here if...
You care about your patients.
You enjoy creating order without needing to control the people around you.
You notice when something needs attention and take responsibility for what belongs to you.
You can handle uncomfortable conversations while preserving another person's dignity.
You want to work with people who care about their profession and care for one another.
If this sounds like a place where you could do good work, we'd like to hear from you.
Please send us your résumé and a short answer to this question:
“It’s 10:30 on a busy morning. The schedule has fallen behind. A patient at the desk is frustrated about what their insurance will pay. An assistant looks overwhelmed, and you have work that needs to be finished before lunch. Nobody has asked you for help. What do you do?”
We are interested in how you think.
Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 per week
Work Location: In person
