Job Overview
We are hiring an experienced and dependable Indian Cuisine Cook / Prep Chef to join our main kitchen team.
This position is mainly focused on preparing and cooking food in large quantities for restaurant service and catering orders. The role includes bulk vegetable and protein preparation, making sauces and gravies, preparing marinades, cooking rice and other menu items, and ensuring the kitchen is ready for daily production.
This is a kitchen-based position. The employee will primarily work in our main kitchen and will not be required to attend catering events.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with Indian food, following established recipes, handling high-volume production, and maintaining consistency in taste and quality.
Responsibilities
Prepare vegetables, meats, poultry, sauces, gravies, marinades, rice, and other ingredients in large quantities
Cook Indian dishes and assist with daily food production for restaurant and catering orders
Follow recipes, prep sheets, batch quantities, and portion standards accurately
Complete assigned prep and cooking duties within required timelines
Maintain consistency in flavour, quality, and presentation
Properly portion, label, cool, store, and organize prepared food
Assist with basic line cooking and restaurant service when required
Keep workstations, equipment, utensils, and storage areas clean and organized
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and kitchen procedures
Communicate with the kitchen team to ensure all production is completed correctly and on time
Requirements
Previous experience cooking Indian cuisine in a restaurant or commercial kitchen is preferred
Knowledge of Indian spices, marinades, gravies, curries, and cooking methods is an asset
Experience with bulk food preparation or catering production is preferred
Ability to follow recipes and prepare food consistently in large batches
Comfortable performing repetitive prep work and working in a high-volume kitchen
Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to follow instructions
Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team
Basic knowledge of food safety and proper food handling
Able to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies when required
Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, and weekends
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
