The successful candidate will be involved in operating equipment and conducting chemical, metallurgical and mechanical testing. Testing includes but is not limited to: chemical analysis using an OES spark machine, metallurgical sample preparation and basic examination using optical microscopy, hardness testing, and potentially other mechanical testing such as Charpy impact testing, bend testing, and tensile testing.

Follow testing procedures outlined in ASTM, ASME, SAE, CWB, ISO, AWS specifications and custom specifications for testing

Follow company quality standards and safety procedures

Conduct verifications and calibrations on equipment and parts as needed

Operate equipment and follow outlined test procedures

Follow maintenance and safety checklists for equipment as needed

Prepare test reports with necessary customer information, results and conclusions

Collaborate with other departments on high volume and large scale project

Engineering technology degree or technical diploma
-
Previous experience with mechanical testing equipment and software is considered an asset (i.e. Bluehill, Instron, etc.)

Familiarity with Instron tensile machines considered an asset

Comfortable with handling large specimens (i.e. rebar or as-received parts)

Able to lift up to 35kg (75 lbs)
