We are a growing food company passionate about creating premium dips, spreads, dressings, and mayonnaise-based products that combine exceptional taste with quality ingredients. We are looking for an innovative and hands-on Food Scientist/R&D Product Developer to help bring new concepts to market and improve existing formulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new products from concept through commercialization.
- Formulate dips, spreads, dressings, emulsions, and mayonnaise-based products.
- Improve existing recipes for taste, texture, shelf life, and cost optimization.
- Conduct bench-top testing, pilot trials, and plant trials.
- Source and evaluate new ingredients and suppliers.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance and Operations to ensure smooth production scale-up.
- Ensure products meet Canadian food regulations, labeling requirements, and food safety standards.
- Maintain detailed formulation records and technical documentation.
- Stay current on food trends and consumer preferences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in food product development.
- Experience with emulsified products, dressings, sauces, dips, or mayonnaise formulations is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP, CFIA/FDA regulations.
- Strong understanding of hydrocolloids, emulsifiers, stabilizers, preservatives, and ingredient functionality.
- Knowledge of shelf-life testing, microbiology, and food safety systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience taking products from kitchen concept to commercial manufacturing.
- Knowledge of clean-label formulation and natural ingredient systems.
- Experience working with co-packers or large-scale food manufacturing.
Pay: $40,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
