Overview
VanSun Travel is looking for a friendly, confident, and experienced Photography Instructor & Tour Host to lead small-group photography experiences in Vancouver and surrounding areas.
This role combines hands-on photography instruction with hosting and managing a small tour group. Our experiences are designed for beginners and photography enthusiasts who want to improve their skills while exploring Vancouver’s urban and natural locations.
Responsibilities
- Lead small-group photography tours and workshops
- Teach practical photography techniques, including composition, lighting, camera settings, and creative shooting
- Assist participants with DSLR, mirrorless, and smartphone photography when appropriate
- Manage the group throughout the experience and keep the tour organized and on schedule
- Create a welcoming, engaging, and enjoyable environment for guests
- Help identify suitable photography locations and shooting opportunities
- Follow VanSun Travel itineraries and safety procedures
- Communicate professionally with guests before and during tours when required
Requirements
- Strong photography skills and a professional or high-quality personal portfolio
- Good understanding of camera settings, composition, lighting, and photography fundamentals
- Comfortable teaching beginners and explaining concepts in a simple way
- Friendly, outgoing, patient, and confident working with groups
- Strong communication skills in English
- Reliable and punctual
- Familiarity with Vancouver and surrounding photography locations
- Available for occasional weekday and weekend tours
Assets
- Previous experience as a photography instructor, workshop leader, tour host, or guide
- Professional photography experience
- Experience with landscape, travel, street, or nature photography
- First Aid certification
- Additional language skills
Schedule
Tours will be scheduled based on bookings and instructor availability. Most experiences will be approximately 4–6 hours, with the potential for recurring tours as the program grows.
This position is ideal for a photographer who enjoys teaching, meeting new people, and spending time exploring Vancouver.
