Lindenlea Mobile Veterinary Hospice Services is looking for a compassionate and reliable Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to accompany our veterinarian during in-home euthanasia appointments.
This position is an important part of providing a peaceful, compassionate end-of-life care for pets in the comfort of their own homes. The successful candidate will work closely with the veterinarian to ensure each appointment is handled with professionalism, empathy, and respect for both the pet and their family.
About the position:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, daytime hours, no evening or weekend shifts
- Hours: variable depending on appointment bookings
- Location: mobile/in-home appointments
- Primarily focused on assisting the veterinarian with in-home euthanasia appointments.
Responsibilities:
Accompany the veterinarian to clients' homes
Assist with patient handling, positioning, and comfort
Pepare and organize medications, supplies, and equipment
Assist veterinarian throughout the euthanasia procedure
Help ensure the appointment proceeds calmly and respectfully
Provide compassionate support and reassurance to clients during a difficult time
Assist with aftercare and handling of the pet as required
Maintain and organize equipment and supplies
Qualifications:
Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant, 1 -2 years of working experience preferred
Comfortable handling dogs and cats
Compassionate, empathetic, and emotionally mature
Comfortable working with clients who are experiencing grief
Professional, reliable, and respectful
Able to work independently and as a part of a small team
Strong communication and organizational skills
Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation an asset
