Position Overview
We are currently seeking a dependable and experienced Maintenance Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in both interior and exterior renovations, is skilled in completing unit turnovers, and is comfortable handling a variety of hands-on tasks. This role involves participating in a 24-hour on-call rotation, shared with other maintenance staff.
This is a mobile position, requiring the successful candidate to have their own truck, tools, and a valid driver’s license. Industry certifications are considered a strong asset.
Key Responsibilities – feel free to add or remove any of the following
- Perform day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks, including but not limited to:
- Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general handyman work
- Exterior property maintenance such as minor landscaping, snow removal, and seasonal upkeep
- Complete full unit turnovers efficiently and to high standards, ensuring units are move-in ready
- Respond to routine service requests and emergency maintenance calls (including after-hours, as part of the team’s on-call rotation)
- Conduct regular property inspections to identify potential issues and perform preventative maintenance
- Collaborate with property managers and other staff to ensure tenant satisfaction and safety
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and time spent on tasks
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety protocols and local regulations
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant maintenance experience in residential or commercial property settings
- Strong knowledge of general building systems and renovation practices
- Must have a reliable truck, own tools, and a valid Ontario driver’s license
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks
- Ability to lift, carry, and perform physically demanding work
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Availability to participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule
- Industry certifications (e.g., HVAC, WHMIS, Working at Heights, etc.) are considered an asset
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT):
- This certification focuses on apartment and multi-family housing maintenance, covering skills like electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and appliance repair.
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP):
- This certification from the SMRP (Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals) focuses on the managerial aspects of maintenance work.
- Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM):
- This certification, offered by various organizations, focuses on managing maintenance operations and teams.
- OHSA Safety Certifications
- This certification is highly valuable for demonstrating safety knowledge.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00-$34.00 per hour
