Vineyard Foreman
Naramata, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia
At Iconic Wineries of British Columbia, we believe great wine is grown, not made. In the Okanagan Valley—one of the world’s most exciting wine regions—our vineyards are farmed with precision, care, and respect for the land. Every vintage reflects a balance of nature, science, and craftsmanship.
We are seeking a Vineyard Foreman who is passionate about viticulture and eager to build a long-term career in vineyard management. This is a hands-on, field-based role where you’ll work alongside an experienced team, develop technical expertise, and take on increasing responsibility over time.
This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to premium vineyard operations in a progressive, sustainability-focused environment.
About the Role
The Vineyard Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day execution of vineyard operations across estate vineyards. Reporting to the Vineyard Manager, the Vineyard Foreman works directly in the field while supervising vineyard crews, assigning and coordinating daily work activities, monitoring crop conditions and vineyard operations, operating agricultural machinery, maintaining production records, and supporting the implementation of vineyard production plans.
This is a hands-on supervisory position that combines technical vineyard work with responsibility for coordinating workers and ensuring that agricultural activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production schedules and quality standards.
What You’ll Do:
- Work hands-on in the vineyard across all seasonal activities, including planting, pruning, canopy management, irrigation, pest management, and harvest, and supervise and coordinate the work of vineyard workers performing these activities.
- Assign daily work activities to vineyard workers and coordinate vineyard crews to ensure that vineyard operations are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with production schedules and quality standards.
- Support the coordination of daily vineyard tasks, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
- Supervise, guide, train, and mentor vineyard workers, monitor their work performance, and provide instructions regarding vineyard operations and safe work practices.
- Learn and apply irrigation scheduling, crop monitoring, and vine health assessment techniques and assist in implementing vineyard production plans, irrigation programs, crop management practices, and pest and disease control measures.
- Operate vineyard machinery, including tractors, sprayers, and ATVs, and coordinate the safe operation, maintenance, and use of agricultural machinery and equipment by vineyard workers.
- Work closely with the Vineyard Manager and Viticulture and Technical teams to implement vineyard production plans, establish daily work priorities, and coordinate agricultural activities.
- Maintain accurate records, including employee timesheets, vineyard inputs, pesticide applications, irrigation activities, crop monitoring information, equipment use, and agricultural production records.
- Monitor vineyard operations and crop conditions, identify operational or production issues, and report findings and recommended corrective measures to the Vineyard Manager.
- Contribute to accurate recordkeeping, including timesheets, vineyard inputs, and production tracking systems
- Promote and enforce compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, safe work procedures, and company policies throughout vineyard operations.
What We're Looking For:
- 2-4 years of vineyard or agriculture experience (or relevant education with practical exposure)
- A genuine passion for viticulture and winegrowing, with a desire to grow into a leadership role
- Hands-on experience with vineyard tasks such as pruning, canopy work, irrigation, or harvest
- Basic experience operating vineyard equipment (tractor experience an asset; training provided)
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
- Valid driver's license; willingness to obtain certifications (e.g. pesticide applicator, first aid)
