Position Overview
HYPE is seeking dedicated and community-focused Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) Coaches to join our professional team for a temporary summer term. This critical role involves professional expertise in the strategic planning and high-quality facilitation of engaging, preventative mental health programming for children and youth. Coaches are instrumental in delivering dynamic, hands-on programs that utilize creative, active, and outdoor experiences to promote participant well-being, connection, and social-emotional skill development.
Key Responsibilities

Lead Program Development and Facilitation: Oversee the organization and delivery of engaging summer programs focusing on preventative mental health, which includes managing creative, active, and outdoor activities (e.g., STEM, culinary projects, outdoor recreation).

Cultivate a Positive Environment: Professionally foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere, building positive rapport with children, youth, and their families to promote mental wellness, resilience, and social-emotional growth.

Ensure Participant Safety and Well-being: Utilize professional judgment to respond effectively and appropriately to all behavioral, emotional, or safety concerns.

Commit to Team and Community: Actively collaborate with community-minded team members to strategically adapt programming to meet participant needs. This includes providing dedicated support for scheduled evening community programs and events.

Maintain Program Integrity: Ensure smooth daily operations by responsibly managing program logistics, including materials, program setup/takedown, and adherence to all operational and safety protocols.
Qualifications & Skills-
Required educational background or professional experience in Mental Health, Education, Child & Youth Care, Recreation, or Social Work.

Demonstrated professional experience working directly with children and/or youth in programming, camp, or recreational settings.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging professionally with youth, families, and team members.

Mandatory working knowledge of mental health promotion and prevention principles.

Proven ability to lead activities with high energy, creativity, and adaptability.

Ability to competently facilitate both indoor and outdoor programming.

Strong collaborative teamwork and effective problem-solving skills.
