For the past 50 years, Protexplo has designed, manufactured, inspected and maintained explosive safety infrastructure across Canada. Our clients include mining companies, specialized contractors, government agencies, the Canadian Armed Forces, research centres, avalanche control organizations, and the world's largest explosives distributors.
One morning, we're discussing a military infrastructure project. That afternoon, we're supporting a mine in northern Saskatchewan. The next day, we're overnighting the key that will allow a contractor in Yukon to access their explosives storage facility.
It's this diversity that makes our work so rewarding.
Today, our team of approximately 30 employees is split between our two divisions in Quebec and Alberta. We are experiencing strong growth, strengthening our processes, implementing a new ERP system, and preparing for the next stage of our development.
We're looking for someone who shares our vision.
Your Role
You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle while helping structure and strengthen our financial administration.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and participating in the full accounting cycle.
- Preparing monthly financial statements.
- Performing bank reconciliations and month-end adjusting entries.
- Participating in the implementation and continuous improvement of our ERP system (Prextra).
- Contributing to the company's general administration and process improvement initiatives.
- Supervising the company's administrative team.
- Preparing financial analyses and management reports.
- Acting as the primary resource for management and our external accounting firm.
A Position That Will Grow With the Company
We're looking for someone who wants to become the company's financial reference.
Initially, the position remains highly involved in day-to-day accounting operations. As our systems and processes mature, the role will naturally evolve toward financial analysis, special projects and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For
- Significant experience in a similar role within an SME.
- Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Clear, professional and constructive communication skills.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- Strong proficiency with Excel and ERP systems.
- College diploma (DEC) in Accounting or equivalent required. A CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.
- Daily bilingual proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written.
