Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Farm Hand to join our team as a barn manager for a 4000 head finishing barn. Duties will include managing pigs on a daily basis, administering medications, feed control, sorting and shipping pigs, washing and disinfecting rooms, maintenance of the barn and some computer record keeping. Chores of chicken broiler barn and cleaning out of barn when flock is done. A rotation of weekend chores with other staff will also be required. Cleaning of grain bins, required on occasion. Must be able to work independently and be a conscientious worker paying close attention to details.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily barn operations, including hog and broiler chicken care
- Perform routine chores and monitor animal health and welfare
- Help maintain and repair barn equipment
- Support field work and general farm duties as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with hogs and on a farm required
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to fix equipment is an asset
- Comfortable working with livestock
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
