Experienced Service Technician – Pools & Hot Tubs

Serenity Pools and Landscaping is a premium pool, hot tub, and backyard service company focused on quality work, trusted service, and creating worry-free outdoor spaces for our clients. We are growing and looking for an experienced, reliable, and highly skilled Service Technician to join our team.
This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for someone who understands pools, hot tubs, equipment systems, troubleshooting, repairs, client communication, and the importance of doing the job properly the first time.
Position Summary
The Experienced Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining residential pools and hot tubs. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience, problem-solving ability, and a professional approach when dealing with clients and team members.
The right candidate will be confident working independently, able to lead by example, and comfortable supporting other service staff when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair pool and hot tub equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, control panels, plumbing, and related components.
- Perform pool and hot tub openings, closings, maintenance visits, cleanings, inspections, and service calls.
- Troubleshoot water chemistry, circulation issues, leaks, equipment failures, heating issues, electrical/control issues, and general performance concerns.
- Provide accurate notes, photos, and service updates after each job.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, office staff, and management.
- Identify potential issues before they become larger problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, properly, and in line with Serenity’s service standards.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and organized manner.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and supporting junior service technicians when required.
- Follow company procedures for paperwork, job notes, inventory use, receipts, and client documentation.
- Represent Serenity Pools and Landscaping in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Previous hands-on experience servicing pools and/or hot tubs is required.
- Strong understanding of pool and hot tub equipment systems.
- Experience with pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, plumbing, valves, automation/control systems, and water chemistry.
- Ability to diagnose and solve service issues independently.
- Valid driver’s licence required.
- Clean driver’s abstract required.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and accountable.
- Physically able to lift equipment, move hoses, handle tools, work outdoors, and perform labour-intensive tasks.
- Comfortable working in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both pools and hot tubs.
- Experience with leak detection, heater diagnostics, automation systems, and advanced water chemistry.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
- Electrical, plumbing, or mechanical background.
- Experience working in a premium service environment.
- Additional certifications related to pools, spas, water chemistry, or equipment service would be considered an asset.
