As part of the Design & Construction Leadership Team, the Regional Project and Facilities Manager will be responsible for the ongoing construction activities of Northland Properties' Capital Projects teams for Hotels and Restaurants. They will partner with fellow members of the leadership team to create a high-performing, team-focused environment that promotes mentoring, development, and growth. They will also create and maintain an environment of trust, support, and open information sharing, consistent with Northland Properties' Purpose and Values, both within the Hotel & Restaurant Renovation group and across other Construction & Design teams.
Reporting directly to the Director, Hotel Renovations & Facilities, your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead, develop, coach, and mentor a cohesive, high-performing Capital Repair team.
- Create, maintain, and monitor project plans, schedules, budgets, and expenditures.
- Monitor and manage applicable change management processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of current and future projects.
- Ensure projects adhere to established frameworks and that all project documentation is maintained appropriately.
- Assess project risks and issues and develop solutions where applicable.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate alignment toward the best outcomes.
- Chair and facilitate meetings as required and distribute meeting minutes to project team members.
- Develop national service agreements to support life safety requirements and annual maintenance programs.
- Negotiate competitive pricing and service agreements with third-party vendors and contractors.
- Develop and maintain project management calendars to support the achievement of project goals and objectives.
- Prepare progress reports and provide schedule updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Guide and support Hotels and Restaurants in implementing environmental and energy-saving initiatives through the Eco-Fund Committee.
- Support and provide direction to Hotel Maintenance teams.
- Review quotations submitted by Regional Directors prior to approval of Hotel Capital Expenditures.
- Provide troubleshooting recommendations and assist properties in developing project scopes of work.
- Manage elevator procurement, bidding, implementation, and ongoing lifecycle planning for new-build projects.
- Review and oversee Elevator and Escalator Service and Maintenance Agreements for Hotels and Facilities.
- Oversee liability and legal risk management initiatives for the Sandman Hotel group.
- Conduct periodic site visits and property inspections.
- Support the growth and development of company culture while professionally representing Northland Properties.
What are we looking for?
- 5+ years of relevant experience in construction, capital projects, facilities management, hotel renovations, or a related industry.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including budgets, schedules, procurement, and stakeholder relationships.
- Experience leading and developing teams in a construction, facilities, or project management environment.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, construction practices, contract administration, and change management.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating vendor proposals, service agreements, and maintenance contracts.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and capital expenditure management.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with operational leaders, contractors, consultants, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to assess risk, make sound decisions, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project Management software.
- A positive attitude, high energy, good initiative, and strong work ethic.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
