A CNC Operator sets up and runs computer-controlled machines to cut, shape, and polish stone slabs like marble, quartz, and granite for countertops and architectural pieces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read Drawings: Review shop drawings, blueprints, and digital templates to understand job specifications.
- Machine Setup: Load stone slabs onto the CNC machine table and secure them properly.
- Tool Management: Select and install the correct diamond router bits, saw blades, and polishing tools.
- Program Operation: Load CAD/CAM programs, set zero points, and run test cuts to ensure accuracy.
- Quality Control: Measure finished pieces with tape measures and calipers to check against design dimensions.
- Maintenance: Clean the machine, check water levels, and perform daily basic maintenance.
Requirements
- Experience: At least 1 to 2 years of experience operating stone CNC machines (such as Breton or Intermac).
- Skills: Strong knowledge of stone types (granite, marble, engineered quartz) and tooling speeds.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long shifts.
- Safety: Commitment to wearing personal protective equipment like steel-toe boots and safety glasses.
