Your Opportunity:
The Opioid Dependency Program (ODP) provides oral medication (Suboxone, Sublocade, methadone, and Kadian (SROM) to clients with opioid use disorder. Narcotic Transition Services (NTS) provides designated narcotic drugs (DND) to clients with severe opioid use disorder. Medications prescribed at the clinic are used for addiction purposes and not for pain management. Reporting to the Manager; the Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) is responsible for the delivery of a safe and quality opioid replacement treatment program and related services. This includes responsibility for non-physician clinical decisions relating to client care, assessment, supervision, medication preparation, including dispensing oral and injectable opioid agonist medications and medical intervention as required (BLS, overdose response, stimulant intoxication response, oversight of Licensed Practical Nurses; non-clinical support staff; and administrative staff. The RN/RPN liaises with various agencies, community services providers, prescribers, and various pharmacies. The RN/RPN will supervise self-administration of prescribed medication including post-consumption assessment for individuals accessing the ODP. The RN/RPN will provide case management, treatment planning, phlebotomy, vaccinations, ECG’s, in addition to collaborating with community agencies and external medical and social service providers to coordinate client care and provide informed referrals for recovery-oriented interventions. Duties also include training and dispensing of Naloxone kits as part of the community Naloxone program.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training or available for immediate enrolment. Completed Sublocade Administration Certificate or available for immediate training. 2-5 years of recent experience working in Addictions and Mental Health. Experience with and knowledge of Opioid Use Disorder and Recovery Pathways. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Must be able to work independently with a high degree of judgment and must be able to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team. Commitment to strengthening team dynamics by actively facilitating team collaboration to enhance client health outcomes. Must be able to use clinical skills in holistic assessment and strong clinical experience in providing treatment to address physical and mental health needs. Physical ability to respond to emergency situations and lift, squat, and carry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Phlebotomy and wound care experience is an asset. Mindfulness about cultural and gender diversity and positive regards towards clients. Knowledge of Indigenous culture. Knowledge of systemic issues such as poverty and stigma. Experience with Connect Care. Knowledge of Mental Health Services Protection Act and Narcotic Transition Services regulations. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
