Economy Paving is hiring an experienced Asphalt Milling Machine Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will operate a cold planer/asphalt milling machine to remove and profile asphalt surfaces on road construction and paving projects across Alberta.
Experience with Wirtgen 210XF & 50RI will be considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate an asphalt milling machine to remove pavement to specified depths and grades
- Read and interpret grades, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate milling
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections
- Identify and report mechanical issues or wear on cutting drums/teeth
- Coordinate with ground crew, truck drivers, and site supervisors to maintain job progress
- Assist with site preparation, including setting up barriers and safety zones around work areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Comply with all company policies and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience operating an asphalt milling machine required
- Solid understanding of grades, slopes, and milling depth control
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 1 or 3 an asset)
- Ability to understand grades and construction plans
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and on a variable schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional overtime
- Commitment to safety, with a clean safety record
- Valid safety tickets (e.g., CSTS, Standard First Aid) considered an asset
