The Role
The Product Support Specialist provides technical and application support for bearing, power transmission, and related industrial products. This role bridges sales, engineering, suppliers, and customers by delivering product recommendations, application guidance, product selection support, and order-related technical assistance. The position requires strong product knowledge, practical mechanical aptitude, and the ability to support customers with reliable, timely solutions.
What You’ll Do:
Technical & Product Support
- Provide technical support for bearings, mounted bearings, seals, couplings, belts, sheaves, chains, sprockets, gear drives, and related power transmission products
- Assist with product selection based on application requirements such as load, speed, alignment, environment, lubrication, and operating conditions
- Support cross-referencing and substitution of products across multiple manufacturers
- Review customer drawings, specifications, and equipment details to recommend appropriate solutions
- Support light engineering tasks such as dimensional verification, tolerance review, and application checks
Sales & Customer Support
- Work closely with sales teams to support quotations, order accuracy, and technical validation
- Act as a technical resource for customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions
- Assist with project-based orders, ensuring correct product selection, documentation, and delivery requirements
- Create technical proposals, input proposals into ERP system using best practice and detailed entry.
Supplier & Internal Coordination
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers for technical data, availability, substitutions, and lead times
- Review manufacturer documentation including datasheets, catalogs, and application guides
- Support internal teams with product updates, obsolescence notices, and new product introductions
- Maintain accurate technical records and product documentation
Quality, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, industry standards, and customer specifications
- Assist with root cause analysis for product issues and returns
- Contribute to standardization of product offerings and preferred supplier lists
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to technical support processes and product knowledge.
- Work safely, lead by example and positively contribute corporate culture.
What We’re Looking For:
Education:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years of experience in the bearing and/or power transmission industry
- Strong working knowledge of industrial bearings and mechanical power transmission products
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and application requirements
- Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and technical documentation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with multiple bearing and power transmission manufacturers (e.g., SKF, Timken, NSK, NTN, Dodge, Rexnord, Gates, etc.)
- Exposure to industrial applications such as mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, forestry, or material handling
- Experience supporting project-based or engineered-to-order products
- Customer-first mindset with a passion for problem-solving and identifying solutions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable navigating both service and sales environments.
- Adaptable and eager to learn new technologies and processes.
