Dunwald and Fleming’s Civil Construction and Shallow Utilities divisions deliver a wide range of civil infrastructure projects, with a focus on underground utility installation and site servicing. We are currently seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our Calgary team and support our field operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report to the Foreman and follow verbal and written instructions while working effectively as part of a construction crew
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including excavators (mini and full size), backhoes, skid steers, loaders, and dozers
- Operate equipment in active construction environments while maintaining strong situational awareness around workers, materials, and underground utilities
- Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, compaction, and material handling in support of underground utility installation and general civil construction work
- Support the installation of underground utility systems, including water, storm, sanitary sewer, gas, and shallow utility infrastructure
- Complete daily equipment inspections and field-level hazard assessments in accordance with company safety requirements
- Monitor equipment performance, identify and report potential mechanical issues or deficiencies
- Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and safe work practices at all times
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience operating heavy equipment is required
- Experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction environments, particularly underground utilities, excavation, earthworks, or site servicing is an asset
- Experience transporting equipment or materials across multiple work locations is considered an asset
- Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol testing required
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a minimum of three (3) years of insurable driving history
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Preference will be given to candidates with valid safety tickets including CSTS-2020, PCST, WHMIS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance Level II in-class, and Confined Space
- Committed to working safely and following all site procedures
- Some out-of-town work may be required
Pay: $26.00-$42.00 per hour
