We are looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing, and patient-focused Ophthalmic Receptionist & Assistant to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys meeting new people, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and can balance both front desk and clinical support duties with positivity and professionalism.
Key ResponsibilitiesReception Duties:
- Be the friendly first point of contact—greet and check in patients with warmth and professionalism
- Manage incoming calls, appointment scheduling, and patient inquiries
- Process patient intake forms and maintain accurate records in our EMR system
- Guide patients through their visit and ensure smooth daily clinic flow
- Handle billing, payments, and OHIP/insurance documentation
Assistant Duties:
- Support ophthalmic technicians and COMTs during patient consultations
- Prepare patients for examinations (e.g., dilation, pretesting, chart prep)
- Perform basic diagnostic testing under supervision (training provided)
- Ensure exam rooms and equipment are clean, sanitized, and ready for use
Qualifications
- Outgoing, approachable personality with strong interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in a healthcare, customer service, or reception role is an asset (but not required; training provided)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Computer proficiency and comfort with learning EMR systems (Accuro experience an asset)
- Ability to stay positive and professional in a busy clinic setting
- Team-oriented and passionate about providing excellent patient care
