Hardscape Team Member
Role Overview
As a Hardscape Team Member, you will support the installation of patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other hardscape features. You will work closely with the Hardscaping Crew Leader and other team members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
This role involves physically demanding work, the use of construction tools and equipment, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and committed to producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with excavation, grading, drainage, and base preparation for hardscape projects.
- Install interlocking pavers, natural stone, retaining wall systems, concrete features, and other hardscape materials.
- Measure, cut, place, and finish materials according to project plans and Crew Leader instructions.
- Safely operate hand tools and equipment, including compactors, masonry saws, wheelbarrows, and other light construction equipment.
- Load, unload, move, and organize tools and construction materials.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
- Remove debris and assist with site cleanup throughout each project.
- Inspect tools and equipment and report damage or maintenance concerns to the Crew Leader.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable OHSA requirements.
- Wear the required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Communicate effectively with the Crew Leader and other team members regarding project progress or job-site concerns.
- Complete assigned work accurately and within the established project schedule.
- Represent the company professionally when working at customer properties.
Qualifications
- Previous hardscaping, landscaping, concrete, or construction experience is preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and hardscape installation methods is an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including repeatedly lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain regular attendance.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and light construction equipment.
- Valid G-class driver’s license and a clean driving record are assets.
