Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and experienced clinician to join our team as
an independent contractor. The ideal candidate has experience providing therapy to
children, youth, and families and possesses a strong understanding of child
development, family dynamics, and the impact of separation and divorce. Experience
working with high-conflict families, co-parenting challenges, and court-involved matters
is considered an asset. The successful candidate is child-focused, trauma-informed,
collaborative, and committed to helping children and families navigate challenges while
fostering resilience, healthy relationships, and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
● Develop a comprehensive understanding of the client's needs and goals
● Provide family counselling to support clients through the separation and divorce
process
● Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to clients' specific circumstances
● Offer practical guidance and resources to help clients navigate emotional challenges
● Collaborate with other professionals, such as lawyers and mental health specialists, to ensure holistic care for clients
● Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with professional
standards and legal requirements
● Complete clinical summaries, including observations and clinical suggestions
● Stay informed about developments in the field of family law and divorce
mediation to provide up-to-date support and guidance to clients
Qualifications:
● Registered Social Worker and/or Psychotherapist
● Registered and in good standing with OCSWSSW or CRPO Liability Insurance
● Current (within 3 months) police vulnerable sector check
● Minimum of 8 years of experience
● The candidate is a relational, mature, trustworthy, warm, and nurturing therapist
in their clinical presence
● Strong knowledge of family dynamics, including parent/child contact issues and
the impact of separation/divorce on family systems
● General understanding of family law as it relates to separation and divorce
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds
● Commitment to maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality
● Conscientious with administrative tasks, including timely documentation and response to clients
● Work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
● Provide in-person sessions when required in Thornhill, ON or virtual sessions
throughout Ontario
● Evening and/or weekend availability is required
