Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to join our team. This position is part-time. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and committed to supporting our teachers and students. As a Teacher Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and effective learning environment. You will work closely with the lead teacher to provide instructional support, manage classroom activities, and offer personalized attention to students, helping them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Support: Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom management, instruction, and activities to ensure a smooth and productive learning atmosphere.
- Instructional Assistance: Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce concepts taught by the lead teacher, providing extra help and encouragement as needed.
- Student Supervision: Supervise students during program activities, lunch, recess, and other school-related events to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Positive Environment: Foster a supportive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture where all students feel valued and motivated to learn.
- Classroom Management: Assist in implementing classroom rules and behaviour management strategies to maintain an orderly and engaging environment.
- Record Keeping: Help maintain student portfolios and track attendance.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with the lead teacher about student progress, challenges, and behaviours. Interact professionally and warmly with students, staff, and parents.
- Clerical Duties: Perform various administrative tasks, such as making copies, filing documents, and setting up classroom equipment.
- Custodial Responsibilities: Completelight cleaning duties in accordance with established health and safety protocols.
Qualifications and Skills
- Childcare Level 1 or higher preferred.
- Proven experience working with children in a classroom, daycare, or similar setting is highly preferred.
- Exceptional patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- A proactive and collaborative team player who is willing to take initiative and follow directions.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a professional demeanor.
Preferred Certifications
- Childcare First Aid and Valid Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Alberta Childcare Level 1
