Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Talent Management & Employee Rewards, the Recruitment & Selection Advisor is responsible for managing and delivering all facets of recruitment, from the development of recruitment plans and the selection of new hires to effective workforce planning activities. The Advisor is a strategic partner and expert resource to their portfolio of departments. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the most qualified talent is sourced and hired to meet the requirements of the City.
To qualify, you'll need...
a 3-year Diploma in Human Resources or a directly related field
2 years of recent and relevant experience in recruitment and selection. Experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
Recent and relevant experience in competency-based interviewing, administration of assessments and tests and recruitment metrics would be considered an asset
Preference for strong experience working with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) along with various social media recruitment tools
Recent and relevant experience working with collective agreements and employment legislation, including Employment Standards Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, preferred
CHRP designation would be considered an asset
Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to influence others
Strong, effective customer service and interpersonal skills
An ability to work in a team environment, liaise with key stakeholders and to function effectively with minimal supervision
Advanced computer skills including MS Office
Strong time and project management skills with the ability to multi-task
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to gather and interpret information
Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to formulate solutions to complex issues
Proficient knowledge of (related policies, legislation, Acts, initiatives etc.)
an ability to travel within the City limits to various City of Kingston facilities/departments
Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check
