Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Farm Hand/Shop Labourer to join our transportation and agricultural team. This role involves hands-on work in farm operations, equipment maintenance, and general shop duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a willingness to learn about farm and transportation machinery. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in farming operations and the possibilty of mechanical apprenticeship while contributing to the efficient running of our farm and transportation companies.
Duties
- Assist with planting, harvesting, and crop maintenance activities
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform general shop tasks including repairs, cleaning, and organization of tools and supplies
- Use hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment for routine repairs and upkeep
- Conduct heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, or harvested crops as needed
- Assist with equipment troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure smooth operation
- Follow safety protocols during all farm and shop activities to prevent accidents or injuries
- Operate wash bay equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
- Clean vehicles thoroughly, including washing, vacuuming, and detailing interiors
- Maintain cleanliness and saftey standards of the wash bay, farm and shop areas, including equipment and workspaces
Experience
- Class 5 drivers license is mandatory
- Class 1 drivers license is a major asset
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with farm machinery is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Experience operating heavy equipment or power tools is an asset
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and record keeping are helpful
- Prior experience working on a farm or in a similar manual labor environment is beneficial but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
This role requires physical stamina, attention to safety procedures, and a proactive attitude. Candidates should be prepared for outdoor work involving heavy lifting and operation of various tools and machinery. The position provides valuable hands-on experience in farming operations while supporting the day-to-day functions of the farm.
Pay: $16.00-$35.00 per hour
