Detailed Works is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Cabinet Maker / Shop Lead to oversee daily shop operations while actively participating in the fabrication and assembly of high-end custom millwork and cabinetry projects.
This role combines hands-on craftsmanship with leadership responsibilities, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a skilled cabinet maker with strong leadership abilities, experience in commercial and residential millwork, and a commitment to maintaining an organized, productive, and safety-focused shop environment.
Responsibilities
Shop Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and supervise shop staff to ensure daily production goals are met
- Coordinate workflow and prioritize production schedules with project management
- Assign tasks and monitor progress to maintain efficiency and deadlines
- Train and mentor junior cabinet makers and apprentices
- Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
- Maintain quality control throughout all stages of production
Cabinet Making & Fabrication
- Build and assemble custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and specialty components
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately
- Operate woodworking machinery and tools safely and efficiently
- Ensure all components are manufactured to Detailed Works quality standards
- Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and recommend practical solutions
- Assist with custom builds, prototypes, and complex fabrication details
Shop Operations
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the production floor
- Monitor material usage and report shortages or issues
- Assist with inventory and hardware management
- Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of shop equipment
- Enforce workplace health and safety standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 7–10 years of cabinet making and millwork experience
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a millwork shop preferred
- Strong understanding of woodworking machinery, tools, and production processes
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and shop drawings
- Experience with commercial and/or high-end residential millwork
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Red Seal certification considered an asset
