We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker/Maintenance Technician. This position is focused on the day-to-day finishing, maintenance, and upkeep of a newly constructed apartment building. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to independently manage minor repairs, suite touch-ups, and general building maintenance to ensure suites and common areas remain move-in ready and professionally maintained.
This role is best suited for someone with experience in apartment maintenance, construction finishing, or property care who takes pride in maintaining a high-quality residential environment.
Duties
- Complete suite finishing and move-in preparation tasks
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments including:
- Door adjustments
- Cabinet and hardware adjustments
- Silicone and caulking touch-ups
- Minor drywall and paint touch-ups
- Light fixture and bulb replacements
- Minor plumbing repairs and fixture adjustments
- Conduct regular inspections of common areas, hallways, amenities, and exterior spaces
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance/storage areas
- Identify deficiencies and report larger repair issues to management
- Coordinate with contractors and trades when required
- Assist with seasonal property upkeep and general building operations
- Ensure vacant suites remain clean, functional, and ready for showings or move-ins
- Respond to maintenance requests in a professional and timely manner
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and building policies
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in apartment maintenance, building care, construction finishing, or property maintenance preferred
- Basic knowledge of:
- Carpentry
- Minor plumbing
- Minor electrical work
- General repair and maintenance procedures
- Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, organized, and professional
- Comfortable using tools and performing physical work including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Valid driver’s licence preferred
