Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Daycare Cook to prepare nutritious, balanced meals for children in our daycare facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety standards. This role is vital in ensuring that children receive healthy meals in a safe and welcoming environment, supporting their growth and development.
Duties
- Prepare and cook meals and snacks according to approved menus and dietary guidelines
- Serve meals to children in a timely and hygienic manner
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with safety and sanitation regulations
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and proper storage of ingredients
- Assist with meal planning based on nutritional requirements and age-specific needs
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and notify management when stock needs replenishing
- Follow all health department regulations related to food service in a childcare setting
- Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth meal service during busy periods
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service is preferred, especially within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Knowledge of food handling safety protocols and sanitation standards
- Ability to serve meals efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and organization
- Strong understanding of meal preparation suitable for children’s dietary needs
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely meal service
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire is highly desirable
